Hilt	Brass grip, fluted, with slot mechanism and spring clip for attachment to the Model 1857 carbine, special version for Marine Infantry.
Crossguard	Steel with quillons bent in opposite directions and finished with small spheres. Eyelet for the carbine muzzle. Steel pin above the lower quarter flute.
Blade	Double-curved yatagan style, with fullers, cutting edge on the outside and flat spine with a short false edge on the inner section near the tip.
Scabbard	Black leather with metal fittings and suspension button.
Inscription	FAÐ TOLEDO 1861
Use	Used with the Model 1857 rifled percussion carbine, in its variant for Marine Infantry.
Regulation	Standard model for Naval School cadets since January 11, 1862, according to the Royal Naval Order.
