Guard Made of iron. Turned knob in ovoid and smooth shape with a prominent button or pommel. Handle wrapped with a graceful combination of smooth and braided wire. Quillons shaped like a Turkish head. Three bridges connecting one of them to the ring or knuckle guard in perfect curvature. Quillons with a square section, horizontal and turned forward and backward. The lower part of the ricasso increases its protection with two small cups or pierced shells.
Blade Straight and long, with a groove in the first third where it carries inscriptions on both sides. Edges on both sides up to the tip.
Inscription BALENCIA (arms maker’s mark)

Description First example in which the B initial appears instead of V. Swords by Juan de Valencia in several important collections. Swordsmith in Seville documented in 1639.
