Guard | Entirely made of gilded brass. Trilateral pommel with a small knob, fusiform grip imitating braided wire. Handguard decorated with golden cord and a galley on both sides of the center of the cross. On the front of the shell, between oak and laurel branches, the Order of the Golden Fleece encircles the crowned coat of arms of Spain. |
Blade | Straight and thin, flat in the first third and double-edged in the rest. |
Scabbard | Black leather with gilded brass mounts and tip. It features a suspension button formed by a floral bouquet. |

Description | The Distinguished Order of the Golden Fleece is a chivalric order founded in 1429 by the Duke of Burgundy and Count of Flanders, Philip III “the Good” of Burgundy. It was brought to Spain by Philip I “the Handsome” upon marrying Joanna I “the Mad” of Castile. Only the king can grant this decoration, and there are only 60. When the recipient passes away, their heirs must return it. |
