Name Official Cavalry Sword
Period Late 18th century
Guard Made of gilded brass, in the shape known as sailing barquilla. Features a front hand guard with undulations that, starting from the cup, ends in a reverse curve to join the ring. Cross of reversed quillons and two inner ones, called “patillas” or grip arms. Ricasso wrapped in brass. Handle made of black ebony wood, with a rectangular tapering shape and longitudinal moldings. Two square ferrules and a faceted pommel. High tang finished with a button.
Blade Straight with an exterior edge. Square spine in the first two-thirds and double-edged on three faces in the last third.
Inscription RL FAÐ TO YEAR 1803

Description Sword for officers, elegant, with great beauty and quality, resembling the sailing barquilla design of previous models intended for the Cavalry troops but, obviously, lighter and smaller.
