Model Cinch sword, Civil Guard Officer, model 1844
Mounting Gilded brass with cross of two flat quillons, double shell guard, coat of arms of Spain between oak and laurel branches, initials “G C”, ring with chiselled decoration and pommel with military triumphs, ebony grip with gilded spirals.
Blade Straight with ricasso, edge on the outside, fuller and slight hollow grind on the first two-thirds, double-edged with three facets on the last third.
Scabbard Black leather with gilded brass throat and tip, Spanish coat of arms on the anchoring button.
Inscription ARTA FABA DE TOLEDO 1877

Historical Description Created in 1844 by Don Francisco Javier Girón, Duke of Ahumada, as an infantry officer’s sword for the Civil Guard.
Circular Circular dated June 24, 1848, mandates the use of the cinch sword for mounted service.
