Guard | Iron, in “Prussian” style, full and closed cup guard, quillon turned toward the blade, rounded pommel, continuous knuckle bow with two ears, reinforcing ferrule, wooden grip covered in sharkskin and plain alpaca wire between several cords, internal screw, leather ring for the index finger. |
Blade | Slightly curved, with a ricasso, square spine up to the ricasso on the inside, wide edge on the outside up to the tip, broad and shallow fullers on both sides, tip shaped in an “eel spine” structure. |
Scabbard | Iron with two mounts and their respective rings, wide mouth throat. |
Inscription | Fca De Toledo 1867 (on the spine), regulation saber according to Royal Decree of November 16, 1860. |
Description | One of the most robust and long-lasting cavalry sabers, used for nearly 40 years, mass-produced. Called “Prussian with reformed guard,” based on the 1852 Prussian model. |
