Name Cavalry Troop Saber
Model 1880, revised in 1888
Guard Steel, Prussian style. Closed cup with turned quillon. Long knuckle bow with ears for the pin.
Blade Slightly curved, with a ricasso, flat back to the inner ricasso and wide edge on the outside. Without fullers.
Scabbard Iron, with one clasp and two rings of different diameter, open chape with screw and asymmetrical drag.
Inscription ARTILLERY TOLEDO FACTORY 1885
Royal Order Note “The second clasp is to be removed and the double ring placed on the first, on all cavalry saber scabbards.”
Model Difference The blade has no fullers, is lighter in weight, and the balance point changes compared to the 1860-1888 model.
