Name Guard of the Royal Seal of the Philippines
Era Circa 1863
Hilt Steel, with decorated boat-shaped pommel, edged with a border of fleur-de-lis and the Spanish shield. Oval pommel engraved with a lion and a castle. Metallic grip with horizontal ridges.
Blade Straight, with a rounded back up to the tip on the inner side and the first third on the outer side, the rest with a cutting edge, forming one or two fullers respectively.
Scabbard Black leather with nickel-plated iron fittings decorated with the fleur-de-lis.
Inscription Corps of Guards Halberdiers – TOLEDO FACTORY 1863
Description The Halberdier Company was created to guard and decorate the Captain General of the Philippines, similar to the one used by Queen Isabella II’s Royal Halberdiers, with minor aesthetic differences.
