Guard | Impressive and highly decorated. A mix between a guard that, disregarding cutouts and engravings, may vaguely remind one of the ancient guards of the Dragoons. Ivory grip with a copper wire wrap and a pommel that evokes the saber of the Military Juridical Corps. On the front, within a circle, the crimson cross of the Military Order of Calatrava. Guard in tongue. |
Blade | Straight, rounded spine, and channel on the first two-thirds, sharpened on the outside and on the blade. |
Scabbard | Metallic, with a strap, clamp, and corresponding ring. |

History | In 1158, King Sancho, son of Alfonso VII, donated the villa and fortress of Calatrava to the Cistercian order, with Fray Diego Velázquez being its main promoter. The first Grand Master of Calatrava was Don García in 1164, who turned the Order into a formidable army always ready to assist the Christian kings. |
