Guard | Cup hilt with leaf engravings, point-breaking rim, and shallow depth. Straight knuckles not very extensive, ending in a button. Pommel in a spinning top shape with a large button, on an elegant base and good grip, almost prismatic, well-wired and reinforced with four vertical bars and two chiseled ferrules. |
Blade | Straight, with a fuller in the strong third and the rest double-edged to the tip. Edges on both sides. |

Description | It would be wonderful to assert that the author of this sword, marked ANTONIO, is precisely Antonio Ruiz, the famous Toledo blacksmith, swordsmith to the King and mentioned in the book “Life of Lazarillo de Tormes”. The steel blooms from the Mondragón forges were brought to Toledo, which is why the people of Toledo are known as “bolos”. |
