Guard Made of gilded brass, without engravings or special decoration; basic geometry of an 18th-century espadín.
Blade Straight, of verduguillo type, edges on both sides, central channel in the first third, remainder with three flat surfaces.
Scabbard Probably leather with gilded brass fittings.
Inscription HORTUÑO
Remarks Officers of the Royal Armies used iron grips, while those of the Royal Guard used silver. Regulations from 1793 mandated the use of “French-style” gilded plates.
