Guard | Made of gilded brass, Empire style, with double shell. In the center appear the artillerymen Daoiz and Velarde between the shields of Spain and the Bourbons, framed by olive and oak branches. Grip made of mother-of-pearl, pommel in the shape of Athena’s head, and a ring with the female symbol of Victory. |
Blade | Straight, with two cutting edges, decorated with military motifs and the shield of Spain. |
Scabbard | Of black leather with a brass gilded end and tip. |
Inscription | Shield of Spain and profiles of the artillery officers Daoiz and Velarde, heroes of the popular revolution against the French of May 2, 1808. This sword commemorates the events in Madrid at the Monteleón Artillery Park, where these Spaniards lost their lives. |
