Guard | Very similar to the 1815 model, without an overhanging canopy and with rounded edges. Made of brass with three quillons. |
Blade | Curved, with a wide fuller extending to the ricasso, back edge on the inside for the first two-thirds, and cutting edge on the outside up to the ricasso. |
Scabbard | Iron, with two bands and their rings. |
Inscription | “Ybarzábal” (on the ricasso) |
Description | Guard composition from the 1822 model and blade with scabbard from the 1815 model. Few manufactured pieces were gifted to England in 1842. |
Historical Notes | King Ferdinand VII repealed all laws and regulations from the Liberal Triennium 1820-1823, including the 1822 swords and machetes. |
