Name Light Cavalry “Royal Heritage”
Model 1825
Hilt Brass with French line design, complete monterilla with pommel, guard plate, ring, “S” shaped quillons and langet. Marked “Royal Heritage 1862”. Wooden grip covered with leather and wrapped with copper wire. Smooth ferrule at the base.
Blade Curved, with a ricasso and wide fuller. Flat back on the inside for the first two-thirds and sharpened edge on the rest. Fully edged to the tip.
Scabbard Very sturdy, made of blued iron, with mouthpiece, two mounts with rings and strong inner wooden ribs. Enveloping drag with asymmetrical wings.
Inscription Royal Heritage 1862, YBARZABAL (on the scabbard)
