Hilt | Gold-plated brass. Straight crossguard ending in trefoils at both ends and a mythological mask framed by a radiant sun at the center. Front turned shell, delicately chiseled and pierced, bearing under a royal crown the intertwined initials “C P,” typical of the Military Preparatory Schools. On the beautifully worked grip, the Coat of Arms of Spain surrounded by oak and palm branches. Globular pommel with a high quillon. |
Blade | Straight, with two ridges on the first third and two edges with triple facets on the rest. |
Scabbard | Black leather, with gold-plated brass chape and throat. The button bears the Coat of Arms of Spain. |

Description | The military preparatory schools were established by Royal Decree on October 8, 1888. They were designed to initiate and prepare entry into military academies for personnel not belonging to the higher social classes. Among these, the school in the city of Trujillo stood out. They were commanded by a Colonel or Lieutenant Colonel, and their faculty consisted of career military officers. |
