| Hilt | Made of well-worked alpaca, with a stylized complete monterilla, a cap with an upper rivet, and a throat. The base disc from which the ring, round chiselled guard, and two griffins extend. Displays the Engineers’ emblem. |
| Blade | Slightly curved, with rounded ridges on the inside in its four-fifths and on the exterior in the first third. Long channels parallel to their respective ridges. Edges along the rest up to the tip. |
| Sheath | Made of iron, nickel-plated, with a hanger, its corresponding ring, and latch. This sheath would have had two rings if it had been manufactured before the Royal Order of January 18, 1894. |
