Hilt | Of indisputable elegance, composed of a knuckleguard with a ring and three flat quillons shaped as curved bars that arise separately from the base plate and also separately rest on the ring, leaving three pierced “S” shapes between them with a beautiful effect. It features a thumb ring directed inward and a continuous flat pommel edged by a raised border. The cipher of Alfonso XIII “AXIII” is prominently superimposed on the ring. Grip made of wood covered with sandpaper and wrapped with a simple wire thread. |

Historical Description | The first specimens of this sword, model 1875, were supplied with the cipher of Alfonso XII, “AXII” and, upon the monarch’s death, it was replaced by that of Alfonso XIII, “AXIII.” This sword underwent a blade replacement in 1901, possibly due to breakage, and was left with a single ring on the scabbard, according to the Royal Order of January 18, 1894. |
