Guard | Completely made of gold-plated brass. Faceted tapering grip wrapped with various types of copper wire between two braided Turkish head rings. Pommel on a base shaped like a head with a helmet and plume. The guard ring is part of the cross that fits into the pommel. Short straight quillon, two arms in the classic bow position, and a brass-covered ricasso. Concave bowl with a heart-shaped profile, known as “coquille”. |
Blade | Straight, double-edged with two flat sides, featuring a central groove in the first third where the swordsmith’s name and the city where it was forged are inscribed. |

Description | In Norman’s book, this pommel is number 90 and says it was used from 1730. The arms are very tall, allowing the sword to be wielded, which places it also in 1730, as well as the “coquille” bowl. The blade is from the mid-17th century. |
