Hilt | Entirely made of gilt brass, with a guard and a double shell ending with an engraved dog-head knop. On the front cup, Spanish arms under a royal crown flanked by two oak branches. This specimen features, in abyss, the Cross of the House of Savoy. Ribbed grip forming a spiral cord. Pommel resembling a cap and small beard. |
Blade | Straight, with a fuller and rounded back on both sides in the first third. In the remaining two thirds, two edges with three sides. |
Sheath | Black leather with a metal mouthpiece and cap, smooth and gilt. On the mouthpiece, a button with the shield of the Spanish arms to suspend the sword in the belt. |

Description | Official sword for commanders and officers of the Infantry according to Royal Order of January 30, 1867. Due to the extensive use of this model, from 1867 to 1901, the Spanish shield was redesigned according to the period, placing the appropriate heraldic emblem. |
