Name Sword of Shells “I.H.S.”
Period 17th century
Guard Made of iron, formed by two symmetrical shells and elegant bows at the base. Deep engravings of animals and leaves. Cross with long straight quillons, handguard joined to the pommel in an arc. Short grip with ferrules and brass wire wrapping. Riveted tang.
Blade Straight, with central flutes in its first quarter, the rest with two flat surfaces, both double-edged.

Inscription Description It can be interpreted as Iesus de los Hombres Salvador or the mark of the swordsmith Johann Hoppe of Solingen.
