Name Veteran Civil Guard Saber Model 1859
Hilt Of a very unique design, made of brass, with a flattened and pierced base plate that extends inward into a short cylindrical quillon and outward through a ring that fits into the grip-pommel piece, both cast as a single block. Noteworthy is the domed pommel, the highlighted border ring, and the grip with pronounced flutes between which a small shield under a royal crown with the emblem of the Veteran Civil Guard is arranged.
Blade With a flat spine on the inside, a long fuller, and a continuous cutting edge on the outside. The blade is double-edged with two bevels and a central ridge, almost “Prussian style” but smaller in size.
