Guard | Entirely made of iron. Curved and slightly decorated guard starting screwed to the pommel and ending with a shell curving toward the blade. Wooden grip, covered by two smooth metallic plates, secured to the tang by two through screws and a small upper cap. Shell turned in the shape of a leaf, with clipped edges, pierced interiors, and chiseled designs of leaves and flowers. |
Blade | Straight and powerful, with three grooves in the first third and three flat areas in the rest. Two edges up to the tip. There are other models with a wider and shorter blade. |

Description | Known as the “wide sword,” it comes from New Spain. It was popular for both civilians and hunters, as well as for military use. It continued to be manufactured in Mexico until the 20th century. There are illustrations of soldiers from the Malaespina Expedition carrying this sword. It is a rare model and difficult to find, especially in Spain. |
