The gladiator was a person fighting against animals or warriors in the Ancient Rome. The roman gladiators were known for their way to fight and their clothing. There were different ranks also for the people who were going to die – morituri te saludan-.
The most known were these:
SAMNITES
- Big oblong shield
- Helmet with visor
- Plumes crest
- Metal greave for the left leg
- Metal or leather armband (covering part of the shoulder and part of the arm)
- Short sword or gladius

- Rectangular curved shield similar to the shield used by the legionaries

Homoplachi and provocator gladiator
Other gladiator were the laqueariis (not so loved), equites (horse gladiators), essedariis (fighting on carriages), andabataes, dimanchaeri (fighting with two swords) and provocators (opening the fights).
